Reference Sources (web)

Afrocentric Voices Devoted to African American performers and composers, and to the vocal music forms they influenced; especially opera, art songs and Negro spirituals composed for concert performance. Also an excellent resource non-vocal music information.

Archives of African American Music and Culture (AAAMC) Established at Indiana University. Serves as a repository of materials covering various Black musical idioms and cultural expressions from the post-World War II era.

Marian Anderson Collections University of Pennsylvania Library. Marian Anderson's repertory included well over one hundred spirituals. She clearly favored the arrangements of African American composers Harry T. Burleigh, Nathaniel Dett, and Hall Johnson, whose names appeared most often on her concert programs.

Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture A research unit of The New York Public Library. Devoted to documenting the experiences of peoples of African descent throughout the world, with emphasis on blacks in the Western Hemisphere. Includes exhibitions, publications, educational, scholarly, and cultural programs.
