IMANI WINDS EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Imani Winds offers comprehensive short and long term residencies and educational outreach performances that can be tailor made for your needs. The activities are excellent ways to connect with a greater audience in a university, conservatory and community outreach environment and are ideally combined with a main-stage performance.

Masterclasses & Coachings

Imani Winds will listen to solo or any chamber music combinations and offer critiques, comments and suggestions.

Wind Ensemble & Orchestra or Band Sectionals

Imani Winds can sit side-by-side during orchestra, band or wind ensemble rehearsals and/or conduct sectionals.

Lecture/Demonstration

Imani Winds will perform pieces, then discuss and analyze the music throughout the demonstration. Examples of this are “The Art of the Spiritual” or “Thinking Outside the Box”.

Open Rehearsal

Students can see the “behind-the-scenes” workings of a chamber music group. Q&A also included.

Composer Readings & Workshops

New works are the lifeblood of what we do. Imani Winds can hold reading sessions with student composers and workshop their music addressing questions & concerns of composition, orchestration and instrumentation.

Business of Music

Imani Winds will discuss what’s involved in running a chamber music group from programming to finances to handling contracts, managers, touring, recording, PR, etc. Q&A is highly encouraged.

Outreach Performance & Informance

Imani Winds offers an array of community outreach concerts or “informances” – informal performance. These concerts may be in non-traditional venues such as libraries, churches or senior citizen centers. The performance is designed for a specific or mixed age group of the audience, bringing the arts TO the community.

School Performances

Imani Winds offers performances for all school children that are tailored specifically to the age and musical experience of the child.
