IMANI WINDS CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival (IWCMF) is an intense summer program devoted to performance excellence and career development. Now in its tenth year, IWCMF has given over 700 participants a safe place to create and perform music and learn about the entrepreneurial side of the music industry. Over half of the students receive financial aid, scholarships are granted based on a rigorous examination of an applicant’s financial need, the merit of their audition performance and teacher recommendation. Donations to IWCMF pays for in-need students’ tuition and housing costs and operating costs of the Festival.

THE LEGACY COMMISSIONING PROJECT (LCP)

The ongoing Legacy Commissioning Project (LCP) started in 2007, and has launched Imani Winds into our second decade at the forefront of creating new music. Donations to the LCP go towards composers’ fees, copying costs, rehearsal space and promotional costs, composer transportation and recording costs.

I.M.A.N.I.

I.M.A.N.I. (Inspire, Mentor, And Nurture Initiative) is a cross-generational collaborative residency program where Imani Winds will coach and mentor 5 early career African- American or Latinx musicians. Imani Winds and the young musicians will co-teach, mentor, and perform with approximately 500 African American and Latinx children at top community music programs around the country. This will provide clear, concrete examples of the type of success the young students can achieve at every level of development. Community music schools will include Play On, Philly, Atlanta Music Project, and the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative. Donations will go to travel, artist residency fees, and administrative costs.
